Generating Power
This activity is to help you understand how power is typically created when there is a source of heat. Read the following paragraph to help you label the different parts of power plant.
First the heat sources boils water turning into steam. The steam piped through a turbine making it spin a shaft. That shaft is connected to a generator which transforms the rotating mechanical energy into electrical energy. After the steam goes past the turbine it is sent to a condenser that cools the steam and turns it back into water to be returned to the tank where it can be reheated again. |
