Computer Numeric Control (CNC)
We will be using our X-CARVE by inventables for this project. There are many steps to this project that need to be done accurately for your project to come out correctly and not break anything. DO NOT rush this project.
Step 1
You will need to create an Easel account with inventables. Here is a link.
Click on the sign in Through Inventables.

Below are some notes you will need to use. ****These setting are for foam board only**** Machine set up 32" x 32" Material: Birch plywood (this does not matter) Material Dimensions X = 12 inches Y = 4 inches Z = 1 inch Bit or End Mills Bit = 1/8 in. Straight cut Cut Settings for green foam Feed Rate = 60in/min Plunge Rate = 24 in/min Depth per pass = 0.4 in Usable fonts for this project
Depth of text Set depth of cut to 1/8 inch or 0.125". They are the same. |
Using Easel at your seatThis video will explain how to write your name and set all the machine settings. Please make sure you get this right and use the settings found to the left not the setting in the video.

Step 4 Log in and load program
At the computer in the smart lab log in and open your easel account. Open your program and double check all the settings. Here is a link back to Easel. easel.inventables.com/users/sign_in

Step 5 Final setup before cutting
This video explains how to get the CNC router ready to cut. Please be careful during this step as this is where you can break expensive parts.

Step 7 Turning off the router and Vacuum
Remove piece from the CNC Router
Loosen clamps and slide you material out towards the back of the machine. Don't forget to log out.
