Technology MINECRAFT Unit
In this unit we will be building a village. We will be looking into what makes up a village as far as Mayor, village planning board, zoning, municipalities, and the needs of the villagers.
Each student will have a couple of roles in the village and have to build certain items besides there house. We will need schools, stores, roads, water towers, power plants, ect. We will also need a village planning board of at least two people, zoning board of at least two people, code enforcement of at least two people.

Residence Each student must build there residence. All codes must be met. See residential zoning laws. Interior designs and items can help you get a good grade |

Each student must build another public / commercial / industrial building. |
Public Positions
Mayor- An elected position of the class. The mayors duties is to over see the layout of the town and be the voice of reason in a dispute. Organizes votes when one is needed. Oversee other government officials.
Village planning board- (3 or more students) The planning board will approve or deny the application of a building and make suggestions to the mayor of what is needed in the town. No one can build anything with out the approval of the planning board. The insides of homes is not under the jurisdiction of the planning board. The Mayor can veto the boards decision. In which case a vote will be held to determine the final outcome. The mayor is responsible to organize the vote.
Zoning Board- The zoning board create the building laws such as property size (how many blocks is a building lot) offset laws, commercial, residential laws and what not. They are in charge of issuing building permits to the builder and checking to make sure all zoning laws have been met.

Variance is when an structure is needed to be build in side of the set back area. An application can be filled out and submitted to the zoning board for approval. Both the zoning board and the owner of the property it is approaching must approve before building. Failure to get this can result in you tearing down your structure and a fine. (lower grade)

Structures can not be more then 15 blocks high.

Getting Started
As a group we will layout a town map on paper, at this point we are only concern with the town center and commercial area. Residential, Industrial sections will come in later. We will start with roads and lot sizes. Using signs will be help full in this. At this time the town officials are not building they are overseeing the construction of the village.
General Rules
No chatting, no stealing as you have unlimited supplies, no destruction of others property. Violations will lower grade and get you kicked off.
